Knoxville & Surrounding Area

Within five minutes of campus, you can enjoy performances by the City Ballet of Knoxville, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, and the Knoxville Opera Company. The Knoxville Museum of Art, the Bijou Theatre, and the Tennessee Theatre provide additional opportunities for entertainment. For sports lovers, Knoxville is home to a variety of minor league teams along with the NCAA Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. The Old City, a renovated district of original downtown Knoxville, attracts a large student crowd because of its trendy clubs, shops, restaurants, and live entertainment offerings.

The Smoky Mountains provide nearly endless opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, and whitewater rafting. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge feature Dollywood, a variety of dinner shows, and numerous craft stores and shopping malls. Cincinnati, Atlanta, and Nashville are all within three to four hours of Knoxville.
