Academic Advising

University Book & Supply Store

The UT Bookstore offers a complete line of new and used books, school supplies, collegiate supplies, calculators, personal computers, personal necessities, paperbacks, plus hundreds of other items. The main store and the Computer Store are located in the University Center. Branch stores are located in the Presidential Court Building, Hess Hall, and the Art and Architecture Building. A free check cashing service is also located in the Bookstore. The Book and Supply Store will buy back books at the end of every semester. Locations will be set up throughout campus. Open Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM and football game day Saturdays.

Career Services

Located on the first floor of Dunford Hall, Career Services provides career-related programs, resources and services to students. Take a one credit course, exploring, majors and careers, look for a co-op job, prepare for a job search, or conduct an on-campus interview through this office.

Center for International Education/Programs Abroad

CIE is a resource center for everyone with an international interest. The center has exchange programs with 27 countries around the globe. The Programs Abroad Office within the center provides information and advice about hundreds of study, work and travel abroad programs open to students. CIE is located in the G Section of Melrose Hall in between Hess Hall and the Hodges Library.

Student Health Service

The Health Service, located on Andy Holt Avenue across from the HPER Building, provides primary healthcare and wellness-related services for students who have paid the full activities fee or an optional health service fee (3-8 hours). The primary clinic of the Health Service is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Evening, weekend and holiday care is provided through the UT Hospital Emergency Room which is open to students when the campus clinic is closed. Emergency transportation to either clinic from campus may be arranged through UT Police Department, 4-3114. Physicians are seen by appointment however, walk-ins with urgent care neccessary are accepted. A staff psychiatrist and psychologist are available through appointment. The Health Service also provides a family planning clinic in conjunction with the Knox County Health Department.

Counseling Center

Located on Volunteer Boulevard next to the University Center, the Counseling Center provides professional counseling services to students taking at least 6 hours per semester. In addition to individual counseling sessions, the Center conducts special programs for groups of students such as stress management, assertiveness training, study skills, and adult children of alcoholics.

Parking

All vehicles must be registered with the Parking Services Office located at 2121 Stephenson Drive. Residents are issued “N” lot hang tags. Hang tags may be purchased. Parking Services provides maps with “N” lot locations clearly marked.

Computer Room Connections

All residence halls are wired for direct ethernet connections to the University main frame. The only cost is the purchase and installation of an ethernet card if your computer does not have one that is compatible. For information on how to get connected, call 4-6616 or visit http://oit.utk.edu/helpdesk/section/Resnet. Satellite offices will be set up during the first few weeks of school. Look for bulletins announcing the location of these satellite offices.

Post Office

The University operates a United States Postal Service Station. Located in the University Center, it provides most of the services available at a standard post office.

Escort Van

Parking Services provides transportation for disabled students and nighttime transportation services for students who would otherwise walk alone on campus. The escort service may be requested by calling the UT van service dispatcher at 4-4080.

Black Cultural Center

The office of Minority Student Affairs is located within the Center. Minority Student Affairs includes free tutorial assistance and a resource library, Black Cultural Programming Committee (BCPC), the Minority Advisors Program, the Student Speakers Bureau and a Mentorship Program. The Black Cultural Center is a place for all students.

International House

The I-House serves as a social, recreational, and programming hub for the entire UT community. The I-House is located just down the hill from Hess Hall towards Cumberland Avenue.
