Future Residents – Living Learning Communities
The Design Community
The Design Community is a unique living arrangement for architecture and interior design students who have been admitted to the College of Architecture and Design. As a freshman on campus, the transition to a large university can be quite intimidating. The Design Community provides architecture and design students with a "home base" cluster of fellow classmates and the chance to embark on this new chapter of life together. Residents are enrolled together in core freshmen courses and introductory courses in their individual programs and share rooms in Morrill Hall.
Residents in the Design Community can participate in all of the programs available to other residential hall students. In addition, they also participate in events and activities designed just for them. They partake in recreational activities such as retreats, laser tag, and skiing. They are involved in a variety of community services, such as serving at the Soup Kitchen and working with Habitat for Humanity.
The Design Community also helps residents with the challenging and time-consuming curriculums of the College of Architecture and Design. Students spend a majority of their time outside of class working on projects and assignments. The opportunity to live with other freshmen with the same classes is invaluable as students in the Design Community form study groups, help each other with projects, and walk to and from the Art & Architecture Building together. The Design Community is the perfect place to find lifelong friendships and other students with a passion for learning.
