Future Residents – Living Learning Communities
The Honors Community
The Chancellor's Honors Program and the Department of University Housing are proud to offer a learning/living community with unmatched opportunities. An essential feature of the Honors First-Year Experience, the Honors Community first stimulates and then helps to sustain the honor student's growth and achievement.
Students living in the Morrill Hall Honors Community will enjoy the benefit of unparalleled diversity, as they will be surrounded by fellow students majoring in every academic discipline at the university. They will also enjoy the stimulation and support that comes with peer learning among students who are challenging themselves to reach new heights. The Honors Community is both rewarding and fun, and you will make friends for a lifetime.
Elected student leaders in the Honors Council, returning Chancellor's Honors students, Resident Assistants, and the Chancellor's Honors Program faculty and staff converge in Morrill Hall to facilitate the first-year students' participation in a variety of useful and exciting academic and extracurricular activities. The Honors Community builds leaders for a diverse and changing world.
Applying for the Honors Community
Regardless of residence hall or graduation year, all Chancellor's Honors students are eligible to join the Honors Community. First-year Chancellor's Honors students are, however, particularly encouraged to reside in Morrill Hall. Chancellor's Honors students living in another hall can participate in this learning community by submitting an application indicating non-Morrill status. Chancellor's Honor students may request a non-honors roommate. The requested roommate must also complete a learning community online application indicating they are requested non-honors roommate and will be charged a $50 program fee on their VOLXpress account. Non-honor roommate requests will only be assigned AFTER all CHP students have been accommodated.
Interested students should complete the online Learning Community application. (click here)
