The LEADERSHIP Community

Leadership is defined as the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. How would the dictionary define you? The Leadership Community will provide you an opportunity to develop and enhance your leadership skills through various components of leadership education, and to learn more about your personal leadership style. You will connect and form relationships with others who share your interest in being a leader on campus. You will also be able to learn from other students' leadership experiences and develop a greater awareness of diverse viewpoints.

The Leadership Community is open to all incoming freshmen who have a desire to learn more about leadership. As a member of this community, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Enroll in First Year Studies 101 specifically reserved for Leadership Community Students. The class will be a small seminar which includes students in your community and focuses on a successful transition to the university environment. (You will be manually enrolled in this course, and do not need to add it to your academic schedule).
  • Enroll in a Leadership Seminar Course focuses specifically on the practice of Servant Leadership. This class will only be offered to Leadership Community members, and will be taught by various staff members across campus who have demonstrated a commitment to your leadership development.
  • Attend various leadership workshops and the annual Clifton M. Jones Leadership Conference
  • Have the opportunity to attend the Chancellor's Student Leadership Summit
  • Attend a Spring Leadership Learning Community retreat
  • Participate in a Fall and Spring group service project
