Future Residents – Living Learning Communities
The VENTURE Living Learning Community
The Venture Living Learning Community offers first-year business students exciting opportunities to live, learn, lead and serve. Through a network of community members, peer mentors, instructors, and residence hall staff, students will make lasting connections and create a strong foundation for success at UT and in life beyond college.
LIVE: All Venture Living Learning Community students will live in Hess Hall, a recently renovated residence hall located in the heart of campus. Social events, recreational activities, cultural and educational programming will be planned throughout the year, allowing ample opportunity to meet students with similar interests and share in the excitement of being a Tennessee Volunteer. In addition, residents will benefit from a unique learning corridor that includes Hess Hall, Hodges Library and the new state-of-the-art Haslam Business Building - an arrangement that provides easy access to numerous academic and technology resources.
LEARN:Students will be enrolled in common courses in the fall and spring semesters, including math, communication studies and seminars specific to business service and learning. By taking courses together, students will quickly develop strong bonds and have a unique opportunity to form study groups, participate in tutoring sessions and challenge and support one another throughout their transition from high school to college.
LEAD: Venture Living Learning Community will emphasize concepts of intercultural awareness and social responsibility so that students can begin building the skills and knowledge needed to become future business and community leaders. Through a series of workshops, guest speakers and field trips, student will examine models of sustainable business and will evaluate the need for ethical and citizenship behavior in a global context.
SERVE: Through community-based service learning projects, Venture students will have an opportunity to enhance their interpersonal and leadership skills through real-world projects while gaining greater appreciation of the role that business leaders can play in a community.
