Purpose
Manage and supervise all activities associated with the assignment of
approximately 9000 residents for the Department of University Housing.
Responsibilities
Administrative
- Direct supervision of four Central Office Housing Clerks and one Secretary.
Indirectly supervises 13 Residence Hall Housing Clerks and five Apartment
Complex Housing Clerks. Assists where needed with other areas of the department.
- Monitors waiting list of students for assignment to their housing choice.
Advises Executive Director or Associate Director of problem situations.
- Coordinate work of residence hall staff to insure the proper flow of paperwork
related to the assignment process.
- Work with representative of other campus departments to determine housing needs
for their students (i.e. Men's and Women's Athletics, Center for International Education
for ISEP students, Polish students, etc.)
Budget
- Oversees orderly of all supplies, forms and materials required to operate
Assignment Office.
- Prepare weekly statistical reports showing number of applications received
and number of residents occupying buildings for the Executive Director.
Personnel
- Responsible for hiring and training of four assignment office Housing Clerks
and one Secretary.
- Assists in the hiring and training of 13 Resident Hall Housing Clerks and
five Apartment Complex Housing Clerks. The Residence Hall and Apartment Complex
Clerks report jointly to the Hall Director and Apartment manager of the building
in which they are assigned as well as the Assignment Manager.
Technical
- Oversees the operation of the Housing Information System, software computer
system, for the Department of University Housing. This system interfaces with
the University's Central Services Accounting System to the Bursar's Office to
provide student rental, meal plan and deposit data. Approximately 20 million
dollars in Residence Hall fees in processed and posted annually to students'
accounts through this system. This system also maintains all housing records
(i.e. assignment, deposit, special housing requests, charges and credits of
monies processed for residents, etc.)
- Maintains code support tables within the Housing information System.

- Coordinates computer needs and improvements in computer programs with the
Coordinator of Information Technology.
Financial
- Responsible for supervision of the receiving, receipting and depositing
of housing application fees and deposits (approximately $500,000 annually).
- Responsible for approving and authorizing rental refunds, within department
guidelines, and assuring that the credits and charges are appropriately
applied to students' accounts.
