Begun as an annex to Melrose Hall, Hess Hall is named after long-time UT business manager and secretary of the Board of Trustees, James P. Hess. Hess houses over 1,000 men and women in three wings (one male, two female). The rooms are traditional, air-conditioned double rooms with large community bath areas on each floor. Located in Hess are a book and supply store, a TV room, kitchens on the third and fifth floor, study lounges on each floor, two laundry rooms, a post office, sunroofs, and the Hess Grocery and KFC Express are food service facilities that offer a variety of food items. Hess Hall offers C visitation option.
